A free online course to help you memorise short passages from the Qur’an for a better experience in salah.
Here is the free course as promised in our earlier post
Introduction To The Course From Shaykh Shams
When performing salah, people tend to recite the little amount of the Qur’an they know, or repeat the shorter Surah’s of Juzz Ammah when they pray at home, often limiting themselves to the last ten surahs. This is also true of longer salahs like Qiyamul layl or the 20 rak’ahs of tarawih.
This sort of thing is very common. Yet it gets rather repetitive and could display an attitude of praying as a burden, when it should be a spiritual activity that is cherished. We should be constantly learning more Qur’an so that we can recite more in our regular salah.
Why not improve your knowledge of the Qur’an so you have a wider selection of verses from the Qur’an to recite? After all, what can be a better way to spend our time in lockdown, than learning the Qur’an? The Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) said, “The best of you are those who learn the Qur’an and teaches it.”
This can be an excellent individual as well as family activity with parents and children learning together and homes buzzing with Qur’an recitation.
The idea for this course started with a simple idea: to give you a list of passages from the Qur’an to memorise. So, we compiled 36 passages in total from all over the Qur’an, excluding the last Juz.
Each passage has been organised in a separate lesson page which you can see below. We’ve recorded each set of verses at a pace you will find easy to follow and copy. An mp3 audio file of the recording is included, which you can download on your mobile phone and listen to on repeat, or you can listen to it on the page. Listening on repeat on your phone will help you memorise it correctly and promptly inshaAllah if you follow along. Enjoy your Salah and Qur’an and make dua for us.
Khushu’
In addition to reciting from a broad range of verses, there are many other aspects of our Salah that we need to improve. Salah has to be done with khushu’ (humily and presence of mind and heart. We have developed a specific course for this which you should also consider taking.
